Kevin Dunivan, DNP
Kevin Dunivan is a licensed Nurse Practitioner. He earned his undergraduate degree in nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. He then went on to obtain his Master's of Science in Nursing with a focus in Acute Care Adult Gerontology and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Virginia. After completing his undergraduate work at VCU, Kevin worked as a nurse in postoperative neurosurgery/otolaryngology and orthopedic units, with a focus on spine and joint surgery. During this time, he became interested in pain and worked with his cohorts to develop holistic approaches to postoperative pain management. Utilizing his interest in pain, he studied the effects of massage therapy in postoperative spinal surgeries as an alternative way to manage postoperative pain and reduce opioid use as his DNP project. In recent years, Kevin has worked in the outpatient setting, treating patients with an array of acute and chronic pain conditions using traditional and alternative therapies.
